History of Liberty Baptist Church
Liberty Baptist Church, 12020 US Hwy 87 S, Dalhart, TX 79022 (806) 249-5344
In July of 1963- Rev. Horace McCaskill began Faith Baptist Church in Dalhart. Rev. McCaskill came was commissioned to this work by the Bible Baptist Church of Dumas.
In the late 60's- the church purchased the Pine Street Methodist Church building which was built in 1899. In the 1970’s, deterioration required the demolition of that building. It was replaced by a small auditorium (26’ x 54’) built on the corner of Pine and Omaha Streets.
During this time, the name of the church was also changed to Liberty Baptist Church. Over the subsequent years, the following men served as pastors of the church:
•
1980 to1989 - Ted Nadaskay, Pastor.
•
1989 to1993 - Mark Rinka, Pastor.
•
1994 to 2003 - Johnny Widener
On April 7, 2002 a new auditorium was dedicated in a 60’ by 108’ metal building. The auditorium was designed to hold approximately 220 seats.
Pastor Dan Martin was called to Liberty Baptist in December of 2003. Under Pastor Martin’s leadership the church has grown to an average attendance of 115. The church has also completed numerous additions to the building and grounds since that time.
We are thankful for the great heritage that Liberty Baptist enjoys. We rejoice in the blessings that we currently are experiencing. And we are excited about the future as we seek to serve God both locally and around the world through our missions outreach. We invite you to be a part of tomorrow’s history of Liberty Baptist Church of Dalhart.
Come see what God is doing at Liberty Baptist!
